How do you conjugate 어르다 in Korean?
어르다 (to soothe, to coax) is 얼러요 in the polite 해요체, 어릅니다 in formal 합니다체, 얼러 in casual 반말 and 어른다 in the plain written style. The past is 얼렀어요.
What is the past tense of 어르다?
얼렀어요 in everyday polite speech, 얼렀습니다 formally. It is built from the 아/어 form 얼러 plus ㅆ, which is why an irregular stem shows its irregularity here.
Is 어르다 irregular?
Yes — it is 르 irregular (르 불규칙). 르 doubles its ㄹ and takes 아/어: 모르다 → 몰라요. That is why the stem looks different in 얼러 and 어르니 but unchanged in 어릅니다.
What TOPIK level is 어르다?
