How do you conjugate 듣다 in Korean?
듣다 (to listen, to hear) is 들어요 in the polite 해요체, 듣습니다 in formal 합니다체, 들어 in casual 반말 and 듣는다 in the plain written style. The past is 들었어요.
What is the past tense of 듣다?
들었어요 in everyday polite speech, 들었습니다 formally. It is built from the 아/어 form 들어 plus ㅆ, which is why an irregular stem shows its irregularity here.
Is 듣다 irregular?
Yes — it is ㄷ irregular (ㄷ 불규칙). ㄷ becomes ㄹ before a vowel: 듣다 → 들어요. That is why the stem looks different in 들어 and 들으니 but unchanged in 듣습니다.
