Common questions

How many Korean adjectives are there?

This list holds 964, drawn from every TOPIK level plus the ungraded bucket, ordered by frequency. It is the same vocabulary as the level lists, cut a different way.

Why do Korean adjectives conjugate?

Because they are not adjectives in the English sense. 형용사 are stative verbs — 춥다 is closer to "to be cold" than to "cold" — so they take tense and speech-level endings exactly as action verbs do, and they need no copula.
